The Gaylord Texan is the official Dallas Cowboys/Dallas Cowboys
Cheerleaders hotel and they're offering special room rates to DCC

Cheerleaders must arrive for home games 2 - 5 hours prior to kick-off.

Cheerleaders participate in home games, home playoffs, American Bowls, and the Super Bowl.

If you are selected, you must reside in or relocate to the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.

You must be at least 18 years of age or older at the time of the preliminary auditions.

If selected, a contractual commitment of one (1) year is required.

Cheerleaders are required to attend all scheduled rehearsals.

All necessary documentation to work in this country and in this capacity.




Basic Uniform is provided (consisting of boots, shorts, blouse, vest, pom-pons, warm-ups, rainwear, traveling outfits, jackets and show group costumes.)

All uniforms and other DCC property must be turned in before the next season's final auditions.




There are 2-5 rehearsals per week before the season begins. You are expected to attend ALL rehearsals.

Once the season begins, there will be a set schedule of rehearsals

All rehearsals are scheduled in the evenings; extra weekend rehearsals for Show Group and Rookies are required

Any girl missing a rehearsal prior to a home game will not be allowed to perform at the home game.

Any DCC missing two performances is subject to dismissal from the squad

CANDIDATES WHO DO NOT FEEL THEY CAN ATTEND ALL REHEARSALS SHOULD NOT CONTEMPLATE BEING A DALLAS COWBOYS CHEERLEADER

Rehearsal dress code will be strictly enforced.




Cheerleaders are paid $150.00 per home game.

Cheerleaders are not compensated for rehearsals

Opportunities for paid appearances and shows are available!




Cheerleaders gaining weight to an extreme are warned, then put on non-performing status, and finally terminated from the squad

No smoking or drinking is allowed in uniform or during Cheerleader functions

For safety reasons, with the exception of small stud earrings, the veteran DCC ring, no jewelry is to be worn with the uniform.

No piece of the uniform or other DCC property may be worn at any time other than official DCC functions.

All classes are under the direction DCC Choreographers and our 2011 Group Leaders. There may even be a special guest instructor for a class or two...! And, you'll be learning on the same dance floor upon which the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders rehearse.

  • The open call preliminary round will be held Saturday, May 5th. The Semi-Final round will be held on Sunday, May 6th.
  • Final Round of the Audition process is scheduled for the third weekend of May with Panel Interviews on Friday, May 18th and Performance Finals on Saturday, May 19th.

IS BEING A DCC A FULL-TIME JOB?
No, most Cheerleaders hold part-time or full-time jobs or attend college.

CAN YOU BE A MOTHER AND A DALLAS COWBOYS CHEERLEADER?
Yes! Many mothers have successfully fullfilled all DCC obligations.

ARE THERE ANY HEIGHT & WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS?
You should look well proportioned in dancewear. We DO NOT have specific height and weight requirements, however, a lean figure is demanded by our uniform.

ARE THERE ANY AGE REQUIREMENTS?
You must be at least 18 by THE TIME OF PRELIMINARY AUDITIONS. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

IF I AM CURRENTLY A HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR, BUT WILL NOT GRADUATE UNTIL JUNE CAN I STILL AUDITION AND BE SELECTED FOR TRAINING CAMP?
Yes, if you meet the minimum age requirements of 18 by the date of preliminary auditions and can participate in ALL Training Camp rehearsals and activities.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO AUDITIONS?
You should wear:

WHAT ARE PREP CLASSES?
Audition Prep Classes are non-mandatory dance classes offered to provide excellent preparation for the upcoming audition. They are taught by DCC Choreographers and Group Leaders during the months leading up to Auditions.
(You may attend one or all the classes.)

WHAT IS SHOW GROUP?
The DCC Show Group showcases the advanced dance techniques and vocal skills of an elite group of 12 Cheerleaders in a fully choreographed musical variety extravaganza. The entire show features elaborately costumed and carefully staged production numbers filled with singing and dancing for every taste - from Classical to Country to good ol' Rock-n-Roll. A separate audition process during the summer allows interested DCC the opportunity to demonstrate their dance and/or singing qualifications for selection to Show Group.

IF I CAN'T DO THE SPLITS SHOULD I TRY OUT?
Yes, if you are a great performer and truly want to be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader you should try out. Flexibility and splits with your right leg forward are REQUIRED by the start of the football season but continual stretching and flexibility work can eventually get results.

HOW SHOULD I WEAR MY MAKE-UP?
Shades that complement your natural beauty.

HOW SHOULD I WEAR MY HAIR?
In a current hairstyle that compliments your features. Make sure your hair does not hide your face. You may call Premier Atelier at 214-696-4074 to schedule an appointment with Rainer Schneck for a DCC consultation.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY APPLICATION WAS RECEIVED AND ACCEPTED?
You will receive an e-mail stating that your application was accepted. Please wait until one week prior to auditions if you have not received this e-mail to call the DCC office. Candidates must use an e-mail address for communication.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO PRELIMINARIES?
Drivers license or passport for identification (This is required, no exceptions)
Extra competition attire and tights just in case!
Water bottle
Lunch and snacks (it will be a long day)
Personal items: make up, curling iron, etc.

WHAT IS THE AUDITION PROCESS?
Auditions are a multi-step process beginning with Application, Preliminary Audition, Semi-Final Audition, Personal Interview, Written Test, and Final Talent Auditions follow for selected candidates. The 2012 DCC Training Camp Candidates will be selected from participants in the Finals. Each day will begin at 8:00am. DO NOT BE LATE! Plan on spending the whole day. Detailed information will be handed out to you each day at registration, but here is a brief overview:

Preliminary Dance Audition:
Candidates will have the opportunity to perform "freestyle" dance moves in groups of 5 for the judging panel. At the end of the performances, the judges selections for Callbacks will be posted.
Semi Final Dance Audition:

  • Learn a dance combination and kickline. (You will be expected to perform the dance combination and kickline many times throughout the rest of the audition process)
  • Candidates will perform the dance combination and kickline in groups of 5
  • Judges retire to make Finalist selections
  • Announce Finalists
  • Finalists have a brief meeting with Cheerleader Director, Kelli McGonagill Finglass to schedule their personal interview appointment and to discuss Final Audition Components: Solo Talent Presentation, Written Essay, Panel Interview and Test

Personal Interview:
  • Panel interview with the judges. Candidates will participate in an interactive interview at Valley Ranch with selected judges from the Judging Panel.

Finals:
  • Written test: A test on general knowledge about the Dallas Cowboys Organization, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders history, the National Football League, current events, and dance terminology.
  • Perform a ninety second individual talent presentation, (e.g. - singing, dancing, dramatic interpretation). This will be your opportunity to impress the judges with your creativity and talent. Bring two copies of your music on cd or cassette tape. You may wear whatever costume design you wish to enhance and complement your performance. If your talent is singing, make sure there are no lead vocals on your accompaniment cd or tape.
  • Perform the dance combination and kickline taught previously at Call-Backs in groups of 5 for the judges panel.
  • Judges retire to make selection for 2012 DCC Summer Training Camp Candidates.
  • Announce Training Camp Candidates.
  • Training Camp Candidates stay for a brief meeting with Director, Kelli McGonagill Finglass.

IF I DO NOT ADVANCE TO SEMI-FINALS WILL MY APPLICATION BE KEPT ON FILE?
No. You must re-apply with a new application, non-returnable photo, and application processing fee each year.

IF I AM NOT SELECTED AS A TRAINING CAMP CANDIDATE, MAY I CALL THE DCC OFFICE TO RECEIVE MY JUDGES COMMENTS?
No. The judges sheets are not kept on file and comments about your audition are not available.

WHEN DO REHEARSALS BEGIN?
All rehearsals are held during weekday evenings beginning at 7:00 pm and usually conclude at 10:30 pm. You will be given a schedule of rehearsals at our first meeting.

WHAT TYPE OF TIME COMMITMENT IS REQUIRED IF CHOSEN FOR DCC?
TOTAL COMMITMENT IS REQUIRED!!!! A DCC's schedule is very busy.

ARE THERE CERTAIN DANCE MOVES THAT I MUST BE ABLE TO DO AT AUDITIONS?
Certain dance moves that look great at auditions can be simple movements but always with larger bolder arm movements. Always throw in a head move to catch the judges attention. A look head swing that focuses right on one of the specific judges. Flirt while you dance. Unless you are great and better than great skip the fouettes and pirouettes unless you are great. Instead do showy big flashy bright smiles type moves.

CAN MY FAMILY WATCH AUDITIONS?
No. The auditions are closed to the public.

IF I AM COMING FROM OUT OF TOWN AND I AM NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE AREA, DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS ON WHERE TO STAY DURING TRY-OUTS?
